The Master’s degree programme in Development and Governance

The programme combines teaching in several political science sub-disciplines with a practice-oriented methodology including an internship with a German (development) organisation. The main emphasis is on acquiring knowledge of the relevance of different tiers and forms of governance-processes (local, national, international) both within the established democracies and the developing societies, and on training students’ analytical skills. The programme is thus providing students with both policy- and region-specific expertise.

The conference follows the High Level Forums held in Rome (2003), Paris (2005) and Accra (2008) and will conclude the OECD/DAC-led process on aid effectiveness that was launched by the Paris Declaration in 2005. As such, the Busan High Level Forum will be a major milestone and turning point for the global aid effectiveness agenda: The conference will assess the achievement of the Paris Declaration targets and the commitments of the Accra Agenda for Action by the 2010 deadline.

PTB's Blended Learning Training ‘Quality Infrastructure for Sustainable Development’ aims to deepen the knowledge of and information about Quality Infrastructure related disciplines (Metrology, Standardization, Testing, Certification and Accredication) with the purpose of enhancing the general understanding of the economic role and importance of these disciplines and, improving skills and abilities in dealing with standards-related subjects in the context of
international trade negotiations. The Training is designed for participants from the Caribbean and African regions, namely for administration specialists, executives and decision-makers dealing with trade agreements, as well as chamber of industry and commerce staff. The Blended Learning Training is free of charge, and upon request, PTB will cover travelling costs for selected participants.
