What is EvalForEarth?
EvalForEarth is an international community of practice dedicated to strengthening evaluation capacities in food security, environment, agriculture, and rural development. Founded and sponsored by the Evaluation Offices of FAO, WFP, CGIAR, and the GEF, with additional support from IFAD and the NDB, the network brings together a diverse global membership. Over 2,600 professionals from across the world are already part of this growing community.
The network thrives on genuine collaboration through facilitated discussions, blogs, learning events, and information sharing. Current debates range from how evaluation can go beyond traditional metrics to capture climate and ecosystem impacts, to why technically strong evaluations still fail to influence decisions.

As a Policy Advisor and founder of Sustainable Development Solutions, Karsten brings to EvalForEarth over 30 years of hands-on experience across more than 30 countries, working at the intersection of governance, economic development, and sustainable change . In his contribution on the platform, he highlights that evaluators must go beyond producing findings . They should actively engage in communicating results to stakeholders, using plain language, strong visuals, and context-rich recommendations that drive real decisions.
